Open season 2012
First 2 WODs are out and so far they have been pretty one dimensional. Anybody notice the inverse relationship with some of the scores? Do you fall into that category? One dimensional? The southeast is loaded with talent. These athletes are hungry to get to the next level. They are young, strong and fearless. After spending much time and sweat WODding with some of the best I will say this, bring your entire toolbox to work because I dont care if you did a million burpees or 1000 snatches if you cant do both AND tie a double Windsor(tied my first successfully this last weekend) you might be left sitting outside home depot with your hammer in your left hand and a tape measure in the other waiting to get picked up. While I type with 2 fingers I look for the humor in that last statement.
This week I predict a ladder couplet in the 10-15 minute range. Heavy Deadlift/ chest to bar? Sumo-deathlift/ toe to bar? All I know is that I am feeling a G and a W couplet. For those who are not Level 1 shirtified thats G-for Gymnastics and W-for Weightlifting. Duh.
Coaches suggestion
If you want to make it to the regional level you need to make this round your top priority. That means revolve your training around these 5 weeks. Focus on these WODs as your metcons doing them 1 to as many as 3 times and continue with your strength and skill development at a lower volume and front loaded to Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. Rest Wednesday, hit the first crack at WOD on Thursday and another on Saturday. Strategy is great but that means you or your coach need to know you and your abilities rather well. If we see a 5 minute or less WOD forget strategy and just put the pedal to the medal. If you come out standing you might have done something right.
Game on Biatches
No Firebreather this week. Join class on Saturday for 12.3 at 11am(305) and 10am(A1A)
